The annual national literary competition “Città di Bologna” returns once again, created by Vittoria Borghetti in memory of her husband Guido Zucchi, a doctor and poet.
COMPETITION PROCEDURE
RULES
POETRY SUBMISSION DEADLINE: All pieces must be sent no later than 31 December 2024
CATEGORY: poetry
THEME: Free choice
TEXTS: The texts must be in Italian or a dialect of any Italian region (with an attached Italian translation), published or unpublished. Texts that have already been awarded one of the top 3 places in another competition may not be submitted. Texts with offensive and/or blasphemous content or otherwise deemed inappropriate will be automatically excluded from the Competition.
CATEGORIES: The competition consists of a GENERAL classification, composed of all the poems received. The pieces will also be divided into categories from which 3 category winners will be selected.
The categories are:
SENIOR: category for poets aged 18 and over
TEEN: category for poets aged 14 to 17
JUNIOR: category for poets aged between 11 and 13
BABY: category for poets aged 6 to 10
DIALECT: category including all poems written in dialect
ONLINE: all the poems voted upon by the public
NUMBER OF COPIES: Participants must send only one copy of their pieces via the form at the bottom of the page, completing it in its entirety, or via regular mail to our infopoint address (Corte De’ Galluzzi 13a 40124 Bologna)
SUBSCRIPTION FEE: Participation is free
SCORING
PHASE 1: From 1 January 2025, the extended jury will examine each piece. From the first examination, the following will be selected:
- pieces eligible for public voting
- pieces that will proceed to PHASE 2
PHASE 2: From 15 January 2025 the extended jury will examine the pieces remaining in the competition. From the second examination, the following will be selected:
- pieces to be included in the anthology and the finalists of the Competition
PHASE 3: From 20 January 2025 the pieces will be subjected to a double vote:
- Pieces that have passed PHASE 1 will go to the public vote. Voting will be open until 26 January 2025 at 11:59 PM
- Expert jury vote: the finalists, who have passed PHASE 2, will be judged by experts to draw up the final ranking
AWARDS
The jury will select the winners of the various categories of the Literary Competition and the winner of the general classification. The winners will be announced on our website on 1 February 2025 and awarded in person on Sunday 12 February 2025 at Teatro Mazzacorati 1763.
